Head of Expedition Strategy

Jay Morton

Jay is focussed on all things expedition. Using his experience to help researchers to where they need to

As Head of Expedition Strategy Jay is focussed on making sure we support researchers getting to the most remote parts of the planet.

Jay is passionate about the diverse environments he's worked in and travelled in, seeing climate change alter a variety of terrains and climates. This passion fuels his work with Expedition Science.

Jay joined the PARAs, passed P Company, and served in 3 PARA, deploying to Afghanistan and Iraq. Seeking greater challenges, he passed Special Forces selection and had a 10-year career in the UKSF.

Jay became an expert shooter and operator, excelling in high-stakes, hostile environments, and took part in multiple intelligence-led strikes. He completed four tours in Afghanistan, three in Iraq, and two covert operations. Jay is skilled in HALO and HAHO parachuting, making operational jumps into hostile territories.

As a qualified Patrol Medic, he provided life-saving trauma aid and prolonged field care in both field and main hospitals. He also trained as a Military Mountain Guide and DSV ski teacher, leading expeditions in extreme conditions, including summiting Mount Everest twice.
